Beginning Photography Shutter Speed Assignment For this assignment you will need to shoot at least 72 exposures. We will review 2 of your very best images on the computer for thise assignment. You will need to shoot for the following: (A) One picture using a very fast shutter speed that "freezes the action" and either (B) or (C) One picture using a very slow shutter speed that has the "action blurred" or a panning shot where the background is blurred and your moving subject is relatively sharp by comparison. As you shoot for this assignment our technical concerns are based on the apparent motion of your subject. In terms of subject matter, you may shoot anything that interests you. Our main goal here is to successfully use your Shutter Speeds to enhance the aesthetic and conceptual understanding of the images that you make. I highly recommend that you reread the sections of the textbook referring to Shutter Speeds. Due Date: Some Things to Remember about Shutter Speeds 1. Your subject's movement relative to the camera will greatly affect how much your subject appears to be "frozen" or "blurred". 2. A successful "blurred" shot will have something in the frame that is absolutely sharp that allows for the visual reference of movement. 3. It will be much easier to get a stop action shot where there is a lot of light. Conversely, it is much easier to get a blurred shot where there is less light (particularly with fast film like T-Max 400). YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GET A BLURRED PICTURED IN BRIGHT SUNLIGHT!!!!!!! 4. Use a tripod for all slow shutter speed shots!!!!!!!(Slower than 1/60) |
