Building a Basic Web site
For this assignment you are to build a basic web site with images you've
made in this class. This web site
is a class based web site so...we don't want to have non- class related
pictures on this site. The things you
learn in this assignment will allow you to build a site that contains
whatever subject matter you want at a
later time. After you build your web site you will learn how to deploy
it to the internet so that others may view
it. We will automate this process in Photoshop using the "Simple" website.
To successfully upload your site you will need to know your TCU username
(same as you use for your
TCU email. You will also need to know your TCU password (same as you
use for your TCU email).
First your will "Automate" the building of the web site in
Photoshop. Then when that is completed you will
open your web site in Dreamweaver and to "tweak" it and then
upload the site to the proper server.
You will need to make sure that your "U" drive is functioning
and has on it a folder named WWWPUB
Most likely that folder is already there but if it is not you will need
to make a new folder named exactly
as above and put it on your U drive. Once that is located on your U drive,
all of the files generated for
your web site will be uploaded there. You can double check to make sure
the wwwpub folder is there
by opening a web browser and typing in the following info in the URL:
stuftp.tcu.edu/yourusername
To connect to your U drive via an FTP server or Dreamweaver you will
fill in the following info
exactly as stated into the appropriate dialog boxes for the REMOTE server
